What Kinds of Entertainers Should Your Party Have?

Entertainers are a large part of any event: so it’s vital you plan accordingly!  Not only should they be someone who can match the mood of the event, but they also need to be available, be within budget, and work for the number of people who will be there.

When you’re planning an event, these are the type of entertainers you should hire!

What’s the Size?

How large your event is can tell you how many and what type of entertainer you should have.  From a large event needing multiples like a host, singer, comedian, or even a band, to a smaller event not needing more than a string quartet, it’s vital that you consider the size of your event before you decide what entertainment to hire.  A single drag performer schmoozing with the crowd will get drowned out in a huge auditorium, while a comedian like Tony Baker would be wasted on a group smaller than ten people.

Where’s the Venue?

Beyond how many people will be there: how big is your venue?  The bigger the venue, the more room there is for your crowd to move around and for your entertainment to make noise.  Meanwhile, even if there are fifty people attending: you don’t want to hire a big swing band in a tiny venue, or you won’t be able to hear anything else.

If the venue is far from your area, it’s a good idea to shop in the area you’re heading to so you can find the best fit possible.

What’s Your Budget?

What’s your budget look like?  The bigger the budget, the more you can hire: but if you’re on a tight budget, you’ll have to plan accordingly.  Before you contact anyone, take the time to window shop the talent available in your area, and build your budget around the numbers you see there.

Your budget should grow every year, even if it’s just by a small amount, as the cost of living and cost of entertainment goes up.

How Long From Now Is It?

When is your event?  It’s vital that you plan ahead as early as possible to ensure you get the amazing professionals you want.  If you don’t plan ahead, you’ll find yourself scraping the bottom of the barrel and ending up with performers that don’t match what you’re looking for.  If you can, take the time to talk to contact them as early as possible to book, and put down a deposit.

What Type of Event is It?

Is this a corporate event that could use a comedian, or is this a wedding that could use something more ethereal?  Don’t be shy about finding the best fit for your event based on the talent that’s at hand.  If you’re unsure about what talent works best, consider the people attending the event, the main goal of the event, and what similar events you’ve gone to recently.

Any Event Could Benefit from Entertainment!

Whether you’re planning a birthday party for a toddler or an event for adults: it’s vital that you find the right entertainment to make it work!  Ask yourself some of these questions to ensure you find the best fit possible!
